Water Security
DID YOU KNOW?
Even beyond access to drinkable water, people living in urban slums have no access to water sources at all.
HOW WE CAN HELP
Drilling just one bore well can mean unlimited access to water for over 2,000 slum-dwellers. Not only does this immediately result in greater health and hygiene, but also saves people money to put towards more long-term investments such as schooling and permanent homes.
Undernourishment
DID YOU KNOW?
Undernourishment and malnutrition contribute to stunting and slowed brain development in children - setting irreversible odds against them as they struggle throughout school and work.
HOW WE CAN HELP
Even by giving a minimal donation we can ensure a child is given an adequate daily nutritional supplement which is enough to counter these effects on brain retardation and provide increased opportunities for academic and occupational successes.
Education
DID YOU KNOW?
A child’s ability to attend school is often determined by factors present before their birth- such as location, gender, disability, conflict and poverty. Over 120 million children are denied access to the basic human right of a formal education, often throwing them into intergenerational cycles of poverty.
HOW WE CAN HELP
We can turn this statistic around by supporting efforts to provide school fees and school uniforms for children living in extreme poverty.
Child Sexual Exploitation
DID YOU KNOW?
Sexual exploitation in Nepal is a growing criminal industry, making it one of the highest-risk locations for child safety in the world. Nepal’s public infrastructure offers little-to-no resources for aftercare and reintegration of children affected by severe forms of sexual crimes.
HOW WE CAN HELP
By donating to our partner shelter you can support children as young as four years old who have been rescued from this industry. After determining that they do not have a safe home to return to, children find a new family at these facilities. Upon entering, they are given a new name to signify the start of a new life, and receive ongoing counseling, medical care, education, legal due diligence, and a safe and enriching environment to aid in the healing process.
Reforestation
DID YOU KNOW?
Every minute the equivalent of 27 soccer fields of forests are cleared. Half of the world’s tropical rainforests are gone. Not only are we seeing the extinction of unique species in our world, but we depend on trees to clean the air we breathe and filter the water we drink.
HOW WE CAN HELP
Even minimal contributions help us invest in preserving the earth for future generations by participating in tree replanting and regrowth projects worldwide.
Children with Disabilities
DID YOU KNOW?
In many developing societies, children with disabilities are viewed as a burden and a curse, creating shame for both the individuals and their families. With no facilities or services for children with disabilities, children often live out their lives in isolation, locked in dark homes, rarely seeing the light of day or people outside of their own caretakers.
HOW WE CAN HELP
Your support can help change that through the creation of the Ashlaf Ability Center. This will be a place for children with disabilities 2-18 years old to receive therapy, proper nutrition, education, and socialization.
Sanitation
DID YOU KNOW?
40% of the planet’s population lacks an adequate toilet. Diarrheal disease due to lack of sanitation is the second biggest killer of children worldwide with an average 5,000 children dying every day (more than the amount of infant deaths from HIV/AIDS, tuberculosis, and measles combined). Those that do survive bacterial disease from poor sanitation are physically and cognitively stunted because of that exposure.
HOW WE CAN HELP
Your donation can help us continue to build simple, environmentally sustainable eco-toilets that are game changers in the fight against the sanitation crisis in areas where up to 90% of people lack access to proper sanitation.
Ethical Enterprise
DID YOU KNOW?
The norm across many supply chains continues to place profit over people, being indifferent to human life, and seeing human resources as commodities. Providing economically disadvantaged groups opportunities to grow small businesses, and enter a fair trade global market provides women the dignity of earning income to improve living conditions for their families.
HOW WE CAN HELP
Your support to our fair trade programs grow efforts for enterprise development for women in Nepal, India, and Uganda in a manner that builds household economies in a dignifying non-exploitative manner.
